Before the Storm was an interesting game as we explore what happened with Chloe before the events of Life Is Strange and we actually get to meet Rachel Amber. She wasn't just a ghost haunting the narrative anymore. I know people are a bit split on BTS, but I genuinely did enjoy it. think Chloe's talk back mechanic makes sense for her as a character but gameplay wise, felt sort of nothingburger. Rachel Amber though became one of my fave female characters in this franchise. She's meant to be perfect, top of her class, the Popular Girl but she never wanted any of that. The perfection felt like it was choking her out. So when she meets Chloe, a broken girl who didn't fit in here or there, she became magnetic to Rachel. Like LIS1, I really enjoyed the coming of age teenage messiness of BTS. I think the backtalk mechanic really docked a star off for gameplay reasons. I feel like it didn't really do much and the dialogue for backtalk is just whatever for me. But I loved the dynamic between Chloe and Rachel and Rachel's rage was really nice to watch.
